Privacy Policy

PaintAGIF is a browser-based drawing and animation tool. Every stroke, frame, layer, video conversion and export is processed entirely on your own device. There are no accounts, no uploads, no analytics, no advertising and no cookies. The only data involved is the routine technical log kept by the site's web host (see "Hosting and server logs"), and one small preference stored in your browser (see "Local storage").

Images and videos you import, paste or draw never leave your browser. There is no cloud storage, no analytics on your canvas content, and no way for us (or anyone else) to see what you create. Closing the tab discards your work unless you export it first.

PaintAGIF is hosted by Netlify, Inc., a company based in the United States. As with any website, when you load a page Netlify's servers receive the technical details every web request carries — your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested and the time — and may keep them in short-lived logs so the site can be delivered securely and reliably. We do not use this information to identify or track you, and we do not add analytics on top of it. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in running and securing the website.

Netlify's privacy policy explains how it handles this data, including international transfers.

The site shows no advertising and runs no analytics, tracking pixels or social-media widgets. Pages do not load scripts, fonts or other resources from third parties — even the fonts are served from PaintAGIF itself, so no font provider receives your IP address. The site sets no cookies.

The site can store one small preference in your browser's local storage: whether you have dismissed the introduction strip at the top of the studio. It is written only when you click the dismiss button, it stays on your device, and it is not used for tracking or advertising — which is why the site does not show a cookie banner. You can clear it at any time in your browser's settings.

If you choose to support the site through Buy Me a Coffee, the link opens their website in a new tab and you leave PaintAGIF. Buy Me a Coffee and its payment providers handle your payment and any details you give them, under their privacy policy. PaintAGIF never sees your payment details, and the link does not send them any information about you from this site.

Because PaintAGIF keeps no personal data of its own — your work stays on your device and there are no accounts or analytics — there is normally nothing for us to access, correct or delete. The only personal data involved is the technical log held by Netlify (see above); its privacy policy explains how to exercise your rights over that data.

You also have the right to complain to your data-protection authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office.

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page will be updated.
